I specialize in a wide range of binding styles from traditional case bound books to exposed spine bindings and historical book structures. Projects range from one-of-a-kind books to large runs of 100+ or more. See the gallery below for ideas.

CUSTOM LETTERPRESS PRINTING

I offer custom letterpress printing on a case by case basis. Featured above is a commemorative broadside I printed for the opening of Planet Word, a language arts museum located at the historic Franklin School in Washington D.C.

BOXes & enclosures

I build custom presentation boxes by hand. Perfect for special edition bindings, stacks of prints/ephemera, and objects that can benefit from extra protection and an elegant enclosure. Types of boxes include clamshells, cigar boxes, 4-flap enclosures, portfolios, slipcases, and more.

HANDMADE PAPER

My studio is equipped with a modest paper facility including a hollander beater, hydraulic press, felts, Western moulds and deckles, and Japanese sugeta. I can custom make both Western and Asian papers by hand to suit any project. Fibers include flax, hemp, cotton, abaca, and kozo.

I offer custom books built by hand to suit any project or need. Examples include custom re-binds, personalized sketchbooks, journals, and photo albums, as well as historical book models for teaching libraries and private collections.

NATURAL DYEING & SURFACE DECORATION

I specialize in dyeing paper by hand through brush and dip dye techniques. I also have an experimental approach to dyeing that includes washes and resists that result in one-of-a-kind surface treatments.
